Infrastructure and Services

Located in Central Germany ("Mitteldeutschland"), Leipzig is part of one of the strongest economic areas in Europe. The most important European metropolises can be reached quickly using the autobahn, ICE trains or the Leipzig/Halle airport. The efficient networking of transportation means and routes is only one example.

A significant part of the industrial developments and economic priorities in the Eastern German States are located within 100 kilometers of the Leipzig/Halle airport. Approximately 6.8 million people live in this region.

Deutsche Telekom has created the most modern communication structure in Europe here. Global logistics companies like UPS and Deutsche Post maintain central handling stations in Leipzig. The Leipzig/Halle airport has been expanded into the European hub of DHL.

Not to be forgotten are the unbeatably low rental prices and the feeling of living in a pulsing metropolis which still remains manageable. Porsche and BMW are not the only ones who value these advantages. The German branch of the world’s largest internet store, Amazon.de, opened its new 754,000 sq.ft. (70,000 m²) logistics center in Leipzig in 2006.
